DIY Hacks for A Small Pest Infestation
Everyone has heard their elders say, “prevention is better than cure”, but a lot of people forget to do so in real-time. And this is where the pests jump in to take the advantage. If you’re wondering how to cope with a small pest invasion, we’ve got you covered. Follow these DIY hacks and remove these creepy crawlies from your home or office.
- Borax-Sugar mix
Create a mixture of ½ cup sugar, 1 cup warm water and 2 tablespoons borax, soak a cosmetic pad in it and lay it in the places where insects are seen the most. The sugar attracts the insects and when they collect it and bring it to their queen, it would kill them. This would surely work as an ant killer and help you properly eliminate them.
- Apple Cider + Dish Detergent
In case you’re facing troubles from flies, this hack is for you. Combine a couple splashes of apple cider and some detergent in a bowl or a bottle and wrap the top tightly with a cling wrap. Poke some small holes into it. What it does is that the scent of apple cider attracts flies and the detergent acts as a sticky trap. So if the holes are small, the flies would not be able to escape it and your house or office will be free of these annoying flying insects.
- Soap and Water
Spiders can be scary, and it is for a reason. Although not every spider is deadly, some of them have venomous bites fatal to even humans. To free your office or home from them, mix ¼ cup of soap and 2 gallons of water and spray it on the entrances and the bushes around the building.
- Essential Oil Tricks
Essential oil can do wonders if used properly. While dealing with mosquitoes, spray yourself and your house or office with 16oz bottle filled with 15 drops of lavender oil, ¼ cup lemon juice and 3-4 tablespoon of vanilla extract. This blend repels mosquitoes without the use of harmful chemicals. You can also avoid rats by using peppermint oil as they find it unpleasant because of its strong odour. Lavender, lemongrass, eucalyptus oils and cinnamon, clove and peppermint essential oils can be used to keep fruit flies and termites away respectively.
